Participation of the WAR-SCAR Project in the 30th Congress of the International Society of Hypertension (ISH)
We are excited to announce that the WAR-SCAR project, was presented at the 30th Congress of the International Society of Hypertension (ISH)held in city of Cartagena de Indias, Colombia.
During the congress, Prof. Anna Shalimova presented a poster titled “Severity of Stress Disorders In Ukrainian Refugee: Is there Any Association With Presence/Absence fo Hypertension?” The aim of the study is to investigate the potential association between hypertension and severity of emotional distress and PTSD in Ukrainian women seeking asylum in Poland. Our findings will be further explored with detailed cardiovascular assessment, re-evaluation of stress questionnaires and psychiatric consultation of refugees.
It was a great honor for us to be able to present the results of the WAR-SCAR project at such a prestigious scientific forum. For more information about the conference, please visit the ISH 2024 website.
23-26th May 2024
Participation of the WAR-SCAR Project in the 34nd Scientific Meeting of the European Society of Hypertension (ESH)
We are pleased to announce once again that the results of the WAR-SCAR project were presented at the Scientific Meeting of the European Society of Hypertension (ESH) in Milan.
The conference was a great opportunity for Prof. Anna Shalimova to present the results of the project in the form of a poster entitled “Severity of Emotional Distress and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Among Hypertensive and Normotensive Ukrainian Refugee Women in Different Living Conditions.” This study aims to investigate the potential association between living conditions (within or outside dormitories) and the severity of emotional distress and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in Ukrainian women seeking asylum in Poland. Further investigations will include in-depth cardiovascular assessment, 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure measurement, reassessment of stress/PTSD questionnaires, and psychiatric consultation.
We are very proud that the WAR-SCAR project had the opportunity to present at such a prestigious scientific forum for the second time. For more information about the conference, please visit the ESH 2024 website.
23-26th June 2023
Participation of the WAR-SCAR Project in the 32nd Scientific Meeting of the European Society of Hypertension (ESH)
We are pleased to announce that the WAR-SCAR project, conducted at the Medical University of Gdańsk (GUMed), was presented at the 32nd Scientific Meeting of the European Society of Hypertension (ESH) on “Hypertension and Cardiovascular Protection”, which took place in Milan, June 23-26, 2023.
During the conference, Prof. Anna Shalimova presented the results of a pilot study titled “Association of High Blood Pressure with post-traumatic stress disorder in Ukrainian refugees: a pilot study.” This study aimed to explore the potential association between hypertension and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) among Ukrainian women refugees residing in Poland.
Preliminary results suggest an association between high blood pressure and feelings of insecurity as well as PTSD scores in Ukrainian women refugees. These findings require further investigation using 24-hour blood pressure monitoring and a larger sample size.
We are proud that the WAR-SCAR project could be showcased at such a prestigious scientific forum. For more information about the conference, please visit the ESH 2023 website.
